Whatever you want to say about James Cameron, the guy wrote and directed Terminator and Aliens, and his films have grossed over a billion dollars in the U.S. alone; so he pretty much PWNS you.
So where's he been for the past decade, you ask? Apparently he's been working on some crazy-ass 3D shit called Fusion Camera System technology; and according to early reports, it's going to blow your f-ing mind.
Josh Quittner of Time Magazine was shown the first footage utilizing the new technology and was blown away.
"It represents digital filmmaking's bleeding edge. I couldn't tell what was real and what was animated–even knowing
that the 9-ft.-tall blue, dappled dude couldn't possibly be real. The
scenes were so startling and absorbing that the following morning, I
had the peculiar sensation of wanting to return there, as if Pandora
were real."
Ridley Scoff (Alien, Gladiator) is so excited about the look of the new footage that he's adopting it for his next project. Says Scott,
"I'm filming a book by Joe Haldeman called Forever War. I've seen some of Cameron's latest work, and I've got to go 3D. It's going to be phenomenal."
