Starbucks Coffee has a grande PR nightmare on it's hands.
Beautiful East Hampton New York is regarded throughout the world as the summer retreat of celebrities and millionaires like Sean P. Diddy Combs and Steven Spielberg. But some young employees at the local Starbucks franchise have recently brewed up a tall order of controversy in this sleepy seaside community.
In a well intentioned, but ill advised effort to speed up delivery service, several employees began referring to the popular White Belgian Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino as a "Mulatto" when calling out to the Baristas preparing the beverages in the back. The "abbreviation" has stirred up a considerable amount of anger among some of the more high-profile clientele.
Sean Penn is reported to have stormed out of the shop after inadvertently ordering a two iced "mulattos" for his kids; and Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon have organized a non-violent sit-in outside the shop that is scheduled to take place this weekend. Starbucks has retained the services of high-priced PR crisis expert Howard Bragman to help them with damage control.
